I just bought an 88 M3 and my buddy with a 1999 Prelude has challenged me to a multi-event race. (0-60; 1/4 mile; top speed; autocross)He even posted a question on a Honda board soliciting opinions on whether his modified Prelude would beat my 12 year old bone stock M3. The answer he got was basically that he would lose. (Prelude has less HP per pound and less torque, amongst other things.)

It is so nice to know that a 12 year old stock car can beat a brand new Honda with shocks, springs, sway bars, strut tower bars, intake, etc. It's all in fun but I love to tease him about how much he's had to do with his car to make it even competetive. Plus he looks like a 17 year old kid in his riced out 'Lude.

Bottom line, even if some stock import could beat the E30 M3 I love the fact that there are so few M3's but Hondas are a dime a dozen. Anybody can have a Honda but the M3 is so special.

Just wondering if any of you are acquianted with any rice-boys. There is a guy that live next door to me, nice guy, owns a Civic hatchback, slightly riced. He was looking under the hood of my M3 and commented, "Man, that's a big engine." But he then proceeded to tell me I should remove the airbox and put in a "hi-flow" system. I guess they're used to small, peaky HP engines that need all the help they can get.

My brother was reading a "Sport Compact Car" magazine. He said that all these new ricers still compare their performance to the original M3!! 12 years old, and they still use it as their benchmark.
