I think one of the follow-ups already alluded to
a significant discrepancy between 'year sold,' 'model year,' and VIN sequence number; cars built one year may not have sold that year.

Anyway, I owned a '90 that was first sold new in Dec '91. The things I most remember being different were:

1) no pop-out rear quarter windows

2) no elipsoid head lights

3) aluminum front lower a-arms

4) solid interior door panels (no plugs for the manual cranks)

5) air bag

6) wierd control arm bushings (for tire clearance)

7) big air box

8) softer clutch return (compared with the '88s I first drove)
