I've noticed about 180-190 for normal driving on the street (i baby the car on the street, try not to rev past 4000). At the track I see it get up to 210, maybe a BIT higher. Last time i was on the track it went up to 300 in my first lap out there :(
These numbers i've given you are about right for an E30 M3...210 under spirited driving. I wouldn't worry if it gets a little higher...but if it passes 210 significantly...don't drive it anymore. You might have a shot oil pump (because of toasted bearings), i'm paying for this as we speak, luckily i turned off the car IMMEDIATELY after seeing it at 300. It got up there fast...in just a lap. I shut off the car and rolled it in (on the track). I held up traffic but hey...i'm not interested in paying for a new motor.

Terry "needing new bearings" Best
