Hi.

I bought my '89 M3 used with some ugly no-name 16' 5-spoke wheels and BFGoodrich 245/45/RZ16 tires. I love the width (9.65") of the tires, but the problem is that the front wheels are so wide that the fender lip has bent slightly from tire contact at it's apex on both sides. I'm thinking of buying a set of 17x8 BBS RX with 235/40/ZR17 Bridgestone Potenza RE730s (@9.25" width). Anyone else have experience with 235 mm width tires on the E30 M3? Should I play it safe with 215 mm (8.46")?

Thanks.

I have those same exact tires on my M3. The rears are perfect but the fronts rub the inside of the fender wells slightly when making sharp turns. IMO, 235 is about as wide as you can go up front. It's amazing they fit a 245/45/16 in there! Must be rubbing like crazy.
