Yeah, I guess I'm crazy because I did just that...bought a 91 M3 and sold my 95 E-36 M3. I don't regret it at all. It could only be deemed crazy if you buy an E30 M3 without having it checked out by a qualified mechanic first unless you have all of the service documentation available. I am fortunate to have Schneller and Turner Motorsports right down the street from my house so if I ever have a problem, they're right here.

On high mileage cars you need to be concerned with subframe mounts, intake gaskets, waterpump etc. However, there is a great fix for the tensioner problems, a non-hydraulic tensioner from the v-12 engine; I am having this done tomorrow.

With all that said, the E-30 M3 is such a blast to drive and it feels faster in some ways than the E-36. It has an exclusive engine and, while expensive to maintain, very robust and will last forever. The car was meant for the track and feels right at home on a twisty road. The sound alone makes a high end stereo system seem rather trivial. It's an enthusiasts car, period.

The E36 M3 is a VERY NICE production car and that is the single major difference between the two.

Good luck and hope you find a keeper!

In case you haven't notice, I'm selling my '95 M3, and am looking for an E30 M3 for the change.

My friend who own an '88 M3 says I'm crazy.

Maybe he's right...

anybody else want to give their opinions??
