I have seat time in each M3, and while each has its good points, the E36 is a better street car. Now, before the flames begin, everyone fess up!! The E30 M3 is a street legal race car, its buzzy, tail happy, and very quick at high r's. The E36 is quiet, neutral handling except when power drifting, and very quick at all r's.

If you are solely going to track the car, the E30 would be the better choice. If you will street drive the car, and throw in some track time, the E36 would be better. Decisions, that is what life is all about. You'll learn from each one you make.

As for your comments below, sounds like you think that all E36 drivers are arrogant idiots. Trust me on this one, we all aren't. I am just as interested in track time in my E36, as I was in the E30. The main reason you can associate with the enthusiasts in the E30 cars is because they all have one thing in common: keeping a 9-12 year old car on the road. This either takes a deep wallet, or true passion. The same will apply to the E36 M3 owners 5 - 10 years out.

Peace, enjoy, decide, and don't look back!!!
