Phillip, That just happened to me on a old 318i I have.A brake line developed a leak in the rear of the car which caused brake fluid to drain from the clutch master cylinder. When I pushed in the clutch it went straight to the floor with ease but returned to normal height. Check your brake fluid level. Just a thought.
