If the computer says 24MPG and you're getting 20 or worse, that means there are mechanical devices that are dumping more fuel than the computer expects. The air-flow meter, O2 sensor, TPS and others will tell the Motronic how much fuel is needed.

See if one plug looks carbon fouled. May be a sticky injector. It doesn't have to stick completely open to use a lot more fuel.

Also, check your vacuum line to the fuel pressure regulator. If this line comes off or is cracked, it will keep the fuel pressure at 45psi all the time, not just at full throttle. This will increase fuel consumption about 10-15%.
