Hi all. I`ve had this problem with my car for a while. BMW took a loo at it and replaced a suspect DME relay but the problem still exists. Its going back to the dealership(M3 specialist) I got my car from, and from what I`ve told them so far they suspect the ECU is buggered. They will swap it with one from another M3 to see if it is that.

Question. Do I *NEED* to have a BMW M3 chip fitted, or can a superchip (or something similar) be dropped right in instead? Im not sure about doing this yet but if a superchip is 200 UKpounds and a BMW chip is 400 UKpounds I think I`d go for a superchip or something similar instead to get the extra bhp. Another part of me says I should keep it original and fit the BMW replacement part.

of course this is assuming it is the ecu that is the problem here.
