I bought an early production '88 M3 (chassis #2195019) last February. This was a local car that was actually the first M3 sold in my home state. The car had two previous owners who were car-care fanatics, and it had 64K miles on it. The car is perfect (IMHO) and completely stock. It has the original Henna Red paint which looks brand new, not a single dent, ding, scratch, or chip of any kind. The black interior is as new. It runs like a jewel. I paid $15K for it.

I put a bit of time and $ into this car to get it ready for the local club's (BMW ACA Puget Sound, CCA as of Nov. 1) Concours last July. The car won First in Class (E30 M3) and also Entrants' Choice.

I've probably got $17K tied up in this car, but I wouldn't sell it for less than $24K. But I would be surprised to find a buyer at that price. Fortunately, it's not for sale. Moral of the story: one can find special M3s at decent prices. Just one man's opinion. Good luck!
