Hey, one alternative might be the Blaupunkt Toronto CD receiver. I got one from Crutchfield but unfortunately it looks like they don't carry it anymore. It is the only CD receiver that I found that matched my interior well and had amber illumination (actually variable). The smart card feature is nice too because I don't like detachable faceplates. It fits in so well that I have actally had people ask me how I got a factory CD player in a 1990 M3.

Good luck,

1990 M3

I want to keep the stock radio and use a portable CD player in the Car (Since My Bilstien Shocks are rock hard!) that has around 50 second skip protection. Also I want to preserve the styling of the Car! I am on a budget, so I am looking to upgrade my speakers and if possible get an 4 channel amp. Is it possible to extract the original speakers out of the housing of the rear speakers so that I can upgrade just the cones? Or possibly a unit that can replace it without having to butcher my rear dash? Maybe I could even add a sub-woofer in the trunk that would be velcroed to the floor?

thrifty magnus
