This is a good, informitive message board for restorers and paint/body repairers! I don't know the actual url.
The original paint is GLASURIT. They have a website you can check out. Not many shops actually use glasurit's expensive. However, they can give you a perfect chemical match......Most shops use dupont, ppg...or others. Call up a local paint supplier and see how the bmw color "cross references" into another system, such as dupont. You will also need a flex agent/additive for painting bumpers and wings etc.... but a perfect color match does not insure that the final paint job will match. You need a good painter. Often with metalics, the basecoat is mixed in with the first layer of clearcoat to "hide" the texture from the takes a gently touch here to not creat to much depth to the paint. Metallics can also "settle" depending on vert/horizontal surfaces. If you get a chance, look at the chemical color makeup of your color, you may be amazed what's in there. Diamondswartz has about twelve colors in there including two different allum. metalics, indigos, purples, red......etc. You may want to consider having your car buffed after the painting to bring the color of the old paint back up. Find a good shop.If you are considering buying your own paint to have a shop do it, it could easily cost about $300 for materials.................evoIII covers are available. They are lighter. Bumber reinforcements are also available(evo III) Let me know if you have any questions.
I know it seems like a lot of E30 M3s are getting into accidents recently. It happened to me today, not that bad though. My rear bumper got scratched up pretty badly and looks like it's alignment is off a little bit. There doesn't happen to be any different rear bumpers avaliable, maybe an evo bumper or something? If there is that'd be great, if there isn't, I guess I'll just go ahead and fix the one I have. Thanks,
