When the car was new, it seemed like plain aluminum, then with age it turned to yellow. BMW applies a coat of varnish to protect aluminum parts from oxydation. It turns yellow. It is not Cosmoline which is a kind of sirupy grease. All you can do is to have glass beaded and repainted or polished.
