I removed the kidney from the car, if you look closely, you will see the chrome rings can be removed the grille slats, by removing the plastic push things with a small diameter punch. Then I just took a scotch brite pad to scuff the chrome. Then I took prep solvent to clean them real good. Then I took spray paint primer and primed them. Let dry and then wet sanded the primer w/ 1000 grit. Then I took prep solvent and cleaned it again. Then I took a tac cloth to it. (remembering not to touch the surface I was going to paint w/ my fingers) Then I took Dupont Chromabase paint (cinnabar red same color of my car) and sprayed them. After the 20 minute waiting period I clear coated them. Once this dried I re-installed the kidneys to the grille slats using the same push things and then back onto the car. The whole process took me about three hours not including drying time.
