yes yes yes. you absolutely need the reinforcements. ill post another message soon when i find the info. but you need it, my 88 was hurting the same way, and once it happens you may not know it happened and it can cause other problems, i just thank god that i had a 325 parted out that is a same as my M3.

Turner motorsport sells the reinforcement plates that need to be welded to the subframe. It usually fails where the motor mounts attach.
