Low oil pressure...oil pump? (archive)

After the engine warms up, I notice significant low oil pressure (I have a VDO oil pressure gauge)than normal. When the oil is really warmed up, the pressure dangerously drops (low pressure light on) when at idle (i.e. at a stop light). I had to purposely bring up the revs (2K) just to get the pressue light to go out til I safely made it home.

My first guess is the oil pump (I have over 200K). Any tips if there's something else I should check or consider before replacing it? Has anyone experienced the same problem? How difficult is it to replace the pump?
