with the housing the piston and the spring. 69.25
It was the first time that I took my car there and they had great service and even a customer shuttle! anyways they work on Robin McNutt's J-stock race car here in LA. They have tons of trophys and motorsports posters on the wall encluding a huge bastos m3 poster that I want in my
living room! Any it was a great expirience.
the simptoms, even thought my car recently put out 185hp to the wheels it started making that horrible noise upon startup even on flat street parking! I let this go on for about a month. after it started doing that 5 time plus a week i decided i needed this done. After some research I
found out that in most cases it is the tensioner that fails to tension the chain causing it to break or jump teeth and cause all sorts of havoc. So while replacing the chain is the best thing to do, it is not a must. Tim Aguinaga (j-stock racer and owner of euro tech shop) told me
not to worry about the chain but definatly replace the tensioner. he said he did it twice this year on his car (88 with 196k mi. on original 2.3l!) but he races alot.
The car felt great afterwords and I expirienced less "valve noise" now, which I usually hear driving into my jobs underground parking lot.
for $200 bucks I couldn't think of better thing to add to any e30m3 besides a oil baffle.
Who on the board ever heard of a chain breaking? It is usually failure of the tensioning system right? that causes the breakage of the chain.....
just wanted to inform board members about this important maintainace item...
