What are the lightest wheels available aftermarket in a 17" for the E30 M3's? At the moment I'm a bit partial to the BBS Le Man wheel. Are these super light? Need to know to aid my quest for the ultimate road M3!!
BBS LM I believe are around 10+kgs per wheel for an 8 x 17 as are the majority of replacement alloys. If you want to go light and keep the feel of a light 15 or 16 you will really need to consider magnesium. BBS may be nearer 10 than 11 if they are a forged as opposed to cast alloy ? BBS will be able to tell you exact weights.
For reference a 10 x 18 (yes 18 !) Porsche Dymag weighs well under 8ks !!!!
Which manufacturers supply magnesium wheels anyway?
Speedline, BBS (3 peice with mag centres), Dymag, in fact most do. Bur they are often only available in centrelock and made for a certain series. Most of the DTM cars used BBS one piece mags. For a 8x17 you will pay £300 plus per wheel. But worth it though !
