The Evo 3 seats are based in the Recaro SR seat but were modified by BMW to allow for tilt/height adjustment via a lever on the side of the seat between the centre console (presumably they manufactued a new baseframe?).
They were available in full leather with small motorsport stripes inserted on the top panel of the centre of the seat or alternativley they came in grey cloth with motorsport stripping across the centre sections of the seat - this should also be on the door trim as well.
You should be able to fit SRs using Recaro's adaptor brackets - but you won't have any height adjustment.

That seat is exactly like the recaro seat i had in my porsche. I got it used, so i'm not sure as to which exact model it was, i think the SRG.
extremely comfortable, and holds you in place really well.

check with a recaro retailer.
