help w/ stopping a knock in heater core box!!!!!!! (archive)

i have a noise emanating from my heatercore box behind the dash. at 2k RPM to 3.5k RPM there is an audible knocking noise and a physical vibration coming from the left side of the box from the heater lines enter the car. it is not coming from the lines themselves against the firewall but in the box itself. also as a side note the performance of the heater deminishes as the car increases speed( as the car speed increases MPH the heater blows cold). the specifics of the car are, 90'M3 w/ 92' e36 non vanos m50 engine also w/all related cooling acc. including new water pump(metal impellers),but has retained the original e30 heater box obviously. thats for the help!!!!!!
