I have e30m3 and have driven m(z3)coupe, although neither on track. Quite different. mcoupe very quick, but seemed squirrely and even harsh on street-esp. at 110 mph with overzealous, albeit generous, salesman begging for more. Never got to push it hard in twisties, but may be good track car, although at 6ft. I found it cramped.

E30 is roomy by comparison and rides well on the street. Cuts like a razor without harshness. Drives well at high speeds and low. tons of fun. For daily usage and bang for buck, I chose e30m3, but my intent is 95% road use, for what its worth.
