Very interesting. How woud you compare the e30 with the old 911 without power steering.

My 911 was a 74 with a race built short stroke 2.5 liter, weber carbs @230 hp.
i had stripped out most extras, so it was very light. the suspension was not too stiff, bilstein sports, and uprated torsion bars.

the turn in on my e30 m3 (which is stock, except for bilstein HD) is better. The steering feel is not quite as clean as the porsche. I had turbo tie-rods (metal to metal joint) so the steering was extremely tight, and communicative. (the best i've ever felt on any car, any price)
The M3 has less power, and is heavier, but still feels more nible (i'd say because of better balance). 911 weighed about 2300lbs. but due to the heavy rear, it had a totally different feel. The m3 is much more neutral. I had to set up the turn much more carefully with the 911, but could power myself out of trouble well.
The 911's throttle response was unbelievable...
fly by wire, cry by wire!
nothing beats a rod connecting your right foot to six throttle plates. snap it open, and snap your neck. it would do 0-60 in 5.5 sec. but was mostly top end, and could rev to 7,500 no prob.

actually really sad i had to sell it, but at least i replaced it with another winner.

on a tight, twisty track, the m3 would prevail, but for horsepower tracks, the 911 would.
equally fun to drive cars, but the m3 is much easier to drive fast, and more practical.
