Scott,

The harness that the euro-only illuminated shift knob plugs into is buried deep within your dash. Getting to it requires you remove the entire dash to untape, and unravel it out.

Try this; your rear ashtray has a light going to it. Who NEEDS a lit rear ashtray? Plus, smoking is not allowed in my car. Re-route the bulb and wiring assembly back through the center column, until it reaches your shift column cavity. Also, replace the tiny bulb, with the slightly larger and much-brighter US-spec equivalent bulb. It looks 100% better- and your lighted shifter will also have dimming capability too.

Hope This Helps,
Zach

Has anyone installed an evo lighted shift knob? If you have, where did you find the plug that connects to knob (is it buried somewhere)? The E-30 M3 CD manual has it right near the backup light connector but on my '91 M3, there is nothing near that plug that would connect to the shift knob. Do I need to splice anything or purchase a harness?

Thanks,

Scott
