Sounds like you're getting screwed by both the insurance company AND the body shop! I seriously can't believe you're not covered for this. Don't just take their word for it, check the fine print. Do not give up. You should not have pay for this - what the hell do we pay huge insurance premiums for????

Also, check another body shop (or two). That estimate sounds ridiculous. Good luck!

Last night I sent a deer to St Peter. Unfortunately, my insurance jobbed me saying I don't have the proper coverage. Preliminary estimate at a quality body shop came to $7k ($5k w/o the air bag - christ those things are expensive). This seemed a little stiff to me - it appears that only the hood left headlight assembly and left front fender are damaged. They want $865 for the bumper cover/spoiler alone.

I have the money to fix it, but I would have to ultimately sell it to recover my losses. Should I try to sell it now as is or get it fixed and sell it. The car was in great condition otherwise with just over a 100k mi on it... Any advice is greatly appreciated.
