I think what he was saying was that by having the the tips pointing away from the sensor they could get away with running a less restrictive exhaust which was louder instead of running the quieter more restrictive exhaust.


There is a sensor - that was in use by the DTM governing body - that measures sound, and is fooled by a set of exhaust tips that curve upwards?

That surprises me.

They placed a sensor on the ground behind the car to measure how loud the car was, think about it if you have your car running and put your ear inline with the exhaust it is louder than if your ear isn't.
