I don't know of a cheap source, but I do know of a quality source for mats if you don't want ones embroidered with BMW or M3 logos.
When in college I worked for this guy who sent out samples of BMW carpets to a mill and had thick dense pile carpet COLOR MATCHED to the BMW factory colors. On top of that, he also had the carpet treated (DuPont StainMaster I think) to resist stains.
He custom makes his own mats (for many different European cars) in his professional upholstery & interior restoration shop from templates he's personally made for the car. Either rubber or carpeted heel pads can be ordered for the driver's side. The backsides all come with a slip-resistant material.
His mats are damn-near indestructable. It takes alot of effort just to fold one of his mats in half! I've had the same set of mats that I've transferred to 3 different cars & they probably have about 75k miles worth of wear on the mats and they still look brand new!
The shop's name is Upholstery Limted and is located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Ask to speak with Dale Olano (the owner). His phone number is (225) 928-1907. He charges about $110 or so for his mats, not cheap but they are worth every penny if you want the best mats money can buy!
Anyone know a good cheap source to get factory mats or good look-a-likes for an '88 E30 M3...beige color? thanks much
