I've had M3 before, and now I want similar car, but not M3 because I like discovering something new all the time.
Today I went and test drove M3's closest rival 190 16 Valves
Well, I must say they're pretty close performance wise. I thought that m3 will be quicker because it has more power, but Mercedes impressed me. On lower rpm's I actually felt more torque than in M3! Here is my opinion:
M3 wins hands down...Mercedes looks like it has some low quality aftermatket body kit on it. However with addition of some Evolution parts it will look very nice.
Handling: I think they're pretty even. Car had stock wheels with shitty tires, and suspention could use some new components as well, but it felt pretty tight, not like any other Mercedeses I drove before. With proper suspention upgrades it probably could outhandle ///M3(they're even actually)
Transmission: I didn't like the feeling of the shifter because probably it needed some new bushings, but what I liked that it had "Dog Leg" layout(1st gear down)M3 lose(at least USA model)
Brakes: driving around the block they felt pretty nice. On the track it could be different though. So we're even here.
Exhaust: They sound very similar, but with open hood Mercedes sounded nicer mostly because of next point
Headers: Mercedes wins! You guys should have seen them! They look like they came from Formula1!
Interior: M3 wins. Mercedes seats are not as good, and dashboard looks Mercedes:) It's wood too, not too racy..
What I like though are oil pressure and Voltage gauges.
In general I must say BMW is BMW and Mercedes is Mercedes:)
By the way one of the reasons I like it because you guys don't have it:) It's cool to be different, isn't it?
I wanted to hear your opinions and any thoughts regarding this particular car. Here is my plan:
Buy it, strip it, put roll cage in it, nice suspention, stroker kit from Bekkers(I think 300+hp, will investigate)some aero accesories....sounds like fun project to me.
Anyone knows any good sites about it? Happy ///M motoring guys, no flames please, I love ///M cars, just a little bit bored!
P.S. Someone give me spelling lesson:)
