Perhaps the master cylinder is going bad. I had the same thing even after bleeding- replace the master cylinder and it might go away. You could even upgrade to a 25mm.

I own a 1988 M3 with 75000miles on it. The brakes are routinely bled for driving schools, however, there is substantial brake pedal travel prior to the brakes engaging. I am using the super blue dot 4 fluid. Could there be a problem with air in the ABS system? Has anyone else had this problem? I don't have steel lines, just stock. Might that help? Any info would be much appreciated, Thanks.

PS I live in the great white north, known as Canada. I live in a small town known as Castlegar, BC. Is there anyone with an E30 M3 near here?
