I compared your proposed setup to my current setup.

Mine: 17x8 ET23 w/ 225/40-17.
Yours: 17x7.5 ET27 w/ 234/40-17

The 17x7.5 E36 wheels have a 42mm offset so if you go with a 15mm spacer, you get 27mm offset.

Results:
Your clearance in the back should be better than my setup by 9mm which is good. No rolling required there.

The front is a little trickier as I do not know the steering offset figure so I cannot exactly calculate the clearance with the wheels turned. With the wheels straight, the front will be the same as the back: 9mm more clearance than mine. I calculated a few hypothetical steering offset scenarios and found that the clearance between our two setups is always within 1mm.

Now you may ask, "What does this tell me?" Well, I have no problem in the rear. You will not either. I have a very slight rubbing on the front, inner fender liner at a particular steering angle with the suspension compressed just right--no big deal. From what I expect the steering offset to be, I think you will also not have any problems.

Go for it. Just remember that your speedometer will read about 2.2% too slow.

I'm getting a set of stock 17X7.5 E36 M3 split ten spoke rims. They have 235/40's all around. I want to know what spacers i need to run these rims and will these tires fit without rolling the fenders? Thanks for the help
