I can appreciate the quality materials and appearance of your strut brace, but since the whole idea is that it be strong (which is actually a misnomer--the operative term would be "stiff") then can you show us some engineering data comparing the bending stiffness of your brace vs. competitors?

The reason I ask is simple: the bending stiffness of a tube increases as the FOURTH POWER of the diameter; similarly so for a bar. Thus, a large-diameter (or cross-section) aluminum bar is generally a much more efficient use of material than a small-cross-section steel bar.

Inquiring minds want to know. Thanks!

I have received requests to build a Strong-Strut to fit the E30 series of cars. One of your fellow owners suggested I hit the MB with a survey, so here goes. In case you're now familiar with the Strong-Strut, ours is the only all solid steel machined SS available. It is the pinnacle in quality but priced below the major suppliers. See all the details on the Strong-Strut web page. We have been concentrating on the Z3 series of cars and an E30 Strong-Strut would be about the same prices you will see on the web page. I would appreciate geting your input and will decide from the results whether we will go ahead with an E30 model. Our SS web page will probably answer most of your questions but feel free to email me direct if you like. Thank you for your help and please remember I was asked to do this by one of your own.
