I have mine taped up as well on my 88. I live in Indiana and don't see any altitude changes so there is no reason to have it. Someone told me that it helps the car run better. I don't remember his exact reasoning though. I've heard of a lot of people doing this. Sorry I couldn't be much help

88 M3


An 88M3 that I purchased about6 moths ago seems to be missing part of the air box sensor. It is a part that is located to the left of the air box/filter support bracket. There is a sensor conector that is taped up with elec. tape. From pictures in manuals and tech articles I have determined that it is an altitude sensor or something. Can anyone give me more info on this and what effect it will have on the engine. It runs fine (maybe a little rich from spark plug inspection) Anyone have a part # for this thing?
