It's true that all the henna US M3s were early '88 cars, but it is not true that all the early '88 cars were henna. Certainly the first 300 (or whaterver) US cars (the 2195xxx series) were not all painted hennarot. In fact, according to the BMW NA database, all four of the initially available colors were represented among the first 20 US cars produced (2195001 through 2195020; my henna car is 2195019). So, if your car is 2195178, you have the 178th US car, but not the 178th henna car.
