I just bought an 88 M3 with 164k on the clock with compression at 185 and leakdown under 15% all the way across. other than the milage the car is immaculate and original (except for the crappy wheel that are on the thing) And I paid 12,500 dollars US for it and for me that was fine. So its based on prefrence and fact vs. myth.

88 M3

Hey guys. I have been looking for a E30 M3 for about 1.5 yrs now. I am looking for one with 60-90k miles for around $12,000. I have seen them around but are a very rare find. Should I ignore those M3s with 110k-150k miles on the original motor. I have noticed that around 115k-130k the motors start to go. I dont want to buy a car for 12,000 and then turn around and put another 6500 into a new motor. What do you guys think about this?? Do you think I should just give up on a M3 and buy a E30 325is??
