You can get an E30 M3 in pretty good shape for 11-13 thousand. But the cost to maintain an 11 to 12 year old car may get you. Things just wear out after time. I have not had any major breakdowns, but the little things have added up. (rear shock mounts, control arms, heater hoses, ac bushings) Think about the fun things you do with your money now. With an 11 year old car to support your going to have to make sacrifices. M stands for money(parts are bank for an M). Car insurance is more too.

You can have a lot of fun with an E30 320i. With the right gearing its just as fast as an M3 in a straight line. You can get one cheap and set aside the rest of the money for reapirs and a few fun upgrades. Just my opinion.
