Just joined the club so to speak, picked up an 88 M3 w/198k for an EXTREMELY low price. Car is rough but has a lot of potential and drivetrain looks a bit above fair.

We're mostly Audi people; wife brother and I have 01 TTRQ, 01 S4 sedan, 00 GTI, 99 A4 Avant turbo quattro and 91 318is. Parent's are BMW "folk", my father took delivery of his 74 '02 from the factory the week before I was born (in Stuttgart), still not sure which was his favorite?

BMW wise we've done quite a bit of maintenance to the 318is (clutch, top end, misc drive train, etc) but the m3 is a completely different animal...the 318 is in GREAT shape where as the M3 is, ummm, not. We bought it as a project car and look forward to learning from all of you (even if it is a bit abrasive around here!).

I'm looking for what you guy's/gal's think is the standard recommended library package to go through the car completely? I've seen a CD and imagine the factory manuals will come up, where are the best places to buy these?

We have 2.5l intentions and will likely keep it at the bare minimum street legal level for a while (with cage, etc). Just moved to Dallas from Tampa, anyone else around?

Thanks,
James (Dallas TX, USA)
