Bimmerworld is finally completing an S14/320i hybrid. Nothing that you think would fit actually does. You can't fit the Getrag 265, so they had to cut out the sensor part of the bellhousing and weld it to the 240 tranny. The motor mounts have to be custom made. The oil pan doesn't fit right, so you have to baffle the 320i pan. If you want to to use the M3 oil pan, you have to modify the steering rack, subframe, and the M3 oil pan.

There were so many problems, that he suggested that you simply get a 2002. It's a much classier car than the 320i. If you have one already, sell it and buy a good 2002 body. The suspension is much nicer, you can fit 528i 4-piston front calipers on the tii strut housings. The 320i front suspension is a dog. It uses the anti-roll bar as a trailing link to locate the lower control arm. It flexes like crazy.

I can't describe the pain that they're gone through for the conversion. Just don't even consider it. Buy a nice 2002 and go from there. Many more people have done the M2002 conversion, so there's more help out there.
