The last 7 digits of BMW part numbers look like:
1 111 111

The part number for an E46 rear shock mount is:

33 52 1 092 362

Where "33" is the group number (rear axle), 52 is a sub classification, 1 means something like original part (9 means it's a parts kit), and the last 6 are the part number.

Are the 7 numbers you're referring to printed or stamped? The complete VIN should be stamped, adn the part number is probably printed in white. Just a guess, I'm not looking at my car right now.
