You don't necessarily get or need a new "spring perch". GC probably assumed you were keeping the existing spring perch, which you can do. Or cut off the existing perch, but leave a 1/2" wide ring around the strut. Both these methods eliminate the requirement for welding. If you insist, you can cut off the entire existing perch, grind down the weld bead, and weld on a new ring.

If you really want the answer, call Ground Control and talk to Jay Morris. He would be perfectly happy to walk you through the conversion process.

Well, the top hat will vary from application to application. The one in the picture at GC is not necessarily an E30 unit.

I am more concerned if those are all the pieces you got. You don't appear to have the new spring perch. I saw on their site that they have a "bolt on" kit for the E46 and others. You should make sure you got the right one.
