The connectors he is holding are not for the radio. The factory amp connector is a black square connector.

The ones he is holding are for the lights, etc.

an after market amp! this is how a local dealer will wire in an aftermarket radio or amp!

the black box, is an stock amp.. the 2 plugs have the correct wiring colors for the 8 speaker set up! the amp is suposed to be mounted to the mid-top of that wheel well..
green wire= power cont.
green/black= ignition
you can even see the front tweeter speeker wires, (grey with yellow and grey with green!)

eric is that black box pluged in? probally not, this is VERY common, due to the type of stereo that bmw's use, uses the ground(brown wires) to fade front, back and front and back.. so to use the stock fader in the dash with some aftermarket equipment or aftermarket speakers you will have to join plenty of wires on that harness for anything to work proplery! NOTHING TO WORY ABOUT
