Thanks I will try that...it looks like I took of some clearcoat already.

I started but it kind of messed up the paint. Anyone know how to do this right?

Try using 3M brand general purpose
adhesive cleaner Part#08984 it's industrial
grade they retail for about $10.00 for one quart they do not harm your paint it will remove Adhesive,silicon wax,grease,tar,and oil. I think
this is what most body shop use. for general purpose cleaning.
