Tell us more about you motor mount install. did you have to disconect any wiring, fan blade, water hoses, tranny mounts, etc... i read that you just unbolt the mount, jack up the engine an inch or two and slide them out. This seems too easy, is this what you did?

I didn't disconnect anything, just jacked the car up, supported the engine, and swaped them out. I didn't really worry about the fan, mainly because it's pretty beat up as it is (missing two blades) but one time i did notice that the fan was pressed up against the shroud, so be careful of that.
this is what I did on the passenger side
unbolt the bottom of the motor mount
unbolt the 4 bolts that connect the engine mount connecter to the block ( you will understand when looking at it) I went this wroute becuase I felt that it would be easier from working uner the car to unbolt the whole engine mount assembly from the block that trying to get the top engine mount bolt from under the car.
on the driverside, I just unbolted the bottom from below the car, and the top from above the car. it is much easier to get to the top part of the mount if you remove the carbon canister. just unscrew the clamp, and push it twards the firewall/engine. get a big extension, one that alows you to turn the wrench above the air plenum, then just have at it. putting the carbon canister back in was a bit of a trick, you have to loosen the clamp up all the way, and wiggle the thing in.
when I re-installed the both mounts, on the under side, I got 5cm washers and placed them between the sub-frame, and the bolt. this spreads the load of the engine out, which should allow less chance of the sub-frame from cracking.
If i missed anything or described anything wrong let me know.
Did you get a chance to replace your tranny
mount? I would like to know the steps you
have taken to install it. did you use stock transmision mount? or you use the E-24 tranny mount I have order the stock motor mount and its on it's way I figure I do both at the same time while I'm at it. thanks in advance for any advice.
I got tranny mounts sitting in my room right now. I didn't have enough time to install the tranny mounts mainly because I had to be at work at 12:00 and got started on the engine mounts at like 9:30! I'll get around to it, but i'm thinking the easiest way would be to take off the cross-member that supports the transmission. of course support the tranny with something, then your not changing anything on your back under the car. there probably is an easier way, but I haven't experimented yet. check out Gustave's site, he has lots of good info.
Did you get stock tranny mounts also? Do the E24 mounts offer any advantage over stock? Do they require any modification to install and use? Maybe RogerJ. might now the answer to this question. As you can tell, several of us are interested in replacing these mounts. From looking under my car it seems that the tranny mounts should be easier to replace. What torque did you put on the mounts and the engine block connector, did you use any threadlock? This shared info is very useful. Thanks for the feedback.
