Dave, I have a 91 M3 and i recently performed this project. You can save yourself about $200 if you buy a wheel bearing hub for the 5 series which cost about 90 bucks from Turner motorsport. Youll need to save the abs ring from your old hub, and press it onto the new one. This requires a small puller and a clever arrangement of spacers, etc to make it work. Once the new ring is in place, you are ready to install it onto the steering knuckle. I managed to get mine on with 2 verylarge c-clamps and scrap metal as spacers. There is a special tool for this, but definitely not worth the money...
If you have somewhat of an array of tools and are competent under the hood, then you should be able to pull this project off in an after noon. You might want to have a friend on hand for pressing the new hub onto the knuckle.
You;ll also want to buy a new nut for the hub(about $7), as they are no good once removed.

Good luck- lemme know if you have any more q's.
