I had actually considered this conversion for awhile, because I agree that the stock US low beams suck, even with the ellipsoids.
I did some research and found that the conversion is not too expensive, but then I read this article
from Daniel Stern Lighting which is a very reputable automotive lighting company:

Anyone have any comments on this?
