Just bought the car a couple of months ago. It seems that the cable is intact. I am not sure what else to check. The A/C seems to work fine. Thanks in advance. JOE

I will presume your temperature gauge is working and that the cooling system has not been service recently.

If it has, then you just might have air trapped in the heater core. It is vitally important when refilling a drained cooling system to turn on and set the heater on high. This will allow fluid to enter into the heater core and hopefully displace any air. If a recent cooling system service has occured then you will have to burp the system.

A techique I use is to take off the radiator cap and run the engine until you reach operating temperature. If you are lucky you will hear some gurggling at the expansion tank. Be very careful as fuild will bubble out vigoriously.

If the cooling system hasn't been serviced.
Check to see if the heater core has been by passed in the engine bay.

Many people do this to put off repairing a leaking heater core or heater control valve.

Good luck
