Check behind the kick panel under the dash where the pedals are. Look for where the steering column is and look for a joint that joins two segments of the column. It should be pretty low near the point where the shaft enters the firewall I think. Tighten the bolts that hold that joint, and see if it helps. I was told this helps rattling of the steering column on airbag equipped cars.
