It's not just the physical aspect of what the car will do but also the emotional side to owning an E30 M3. Do you love motorsports? This car is a defining moment for BMW and their Motorsports factory. The heritage and racing expertice that went into building it, the limited production, the endless tuning possibilities and so on... All this makes this car special. Do you feel this emotional side? If not, then just cover it up in your garage for 10 years and then see how you feel when it's a collectors car.
Just my opinion,
C///MR

I've had my M3 for about 3 months now and for the past week I've resisted the temptation to drive it on a daily basis in favour of my M535i.

I gave the M3 a wash today and took it for a short drive and felt (dare I say it?) really bored by it!

Don't get me wrong....it's a really good car and that's part of the problem. There's so much grip and the chassis is so capable it all too 'easy'. You can drive these things ridiculously badly and still get away with it!

Over the past week I've managed to get the backend of the M535i to breakaway (suddenly!) at very modest speeds and got a good 'thrill' out of doing it.

Additionally, the lack of power low down in the M3 felt tedious at times today. My M535i has the same power (218 v 220 bhp) but loads more torque and the torque is available at lower revs which just makes it 'feel' faster. Driving at over 4000 rpm all the time just to get some 'performance' is a bit weirisome?

Having said all this the M3 did put a smile on my face at the end of the day when some 'jerk' in a Mercedes and a baseball cap pulled alongside me at the traffic lights. I let him go from the lights, then stuck right behind him as he (vainly) tried to pull away from me. I genuinely felt like I was holding the M3 back and could see him struggling as we approached a slightly wet bend....I left him bearly enough room to make (his inevitable) mistake (lol)......no way was the Benz going to make it round without losing the backend! And it didn't! (lol) You could almost touch his embarrassment. The M3 wasn't even stressed! (kinda takes me back to my earlier point).

Maybe I should think about getting some 'excitement' from the M3 on the track.....though I can't really afford it.

Sorry for the rambling guys.....just wanted to get it off my chest.

Cheers
