finding mint, low mileage cars (archive)

hi folks. My first post to the E30 M3 forum.

The very first BMW I ever drove was a white '91 M3. I now have an '01 330i (sport package). I considered buying an E30 M3 for quite a while, coming closest when a friend going though a divorce offered me his 98k mile 91 for $8k.

It looks like I may never get my wish to own one. I am insistent that it be mint, low mileage (35k to 40k) unmodified, and unmolested. It seems that this car is not anybody's show piece and they all get driven and driven hard. Rightly so. But that has made it very difficult for me to find one to my liking. People have tried to convince me that high mileage M3s are perfectly good car, and I am sure they are. But I want to expereince the car in a fresh, almost virginal state

I bought the 330i only 2 weeks ago so I am not in the market for an E30 M3 for the immediate future. But I have not given up the hope that I will one day own one. So let me ask this. Are there ANY '88 to '91 M3s in the US that are likely to be under 40k miles and in like new condition? How much would such a car fetch?
