I had some a while back and I couldn't figure out what it was. So I read about the retaining nut for the strut dampers and I went to check those out but they were tight. While I was looking in there, I noticed that my bump stop had deteriorated and the plastic dust boot for the shocks that attaches to it, was loose and misshapen from catching on the top of the retaining nut.

I just cut the boot off and the clunking went away. I'll just replace the boot when I replace my shocks.

I don't know if this could be your problem. I'm not sure exactly how the Intrax setup is.

BTW, how do you know it's from the upper strut mounts? Call me this weekend if you want to do your O2 sensor and/or check out the clunking.

I am getting it this weekend. The plugs rotor and cap are next. I have this damn clunking in my suspension that is really pissing me off so I need to get that fixed also. It is coming from the front upper strut mounts. It started making it when I installed the Intrax spirings....
