I didnt think I`d be able to go to a track event today, BUT I found some time to go along this afternoon.
I was standing near the paddock watching the cars on the track when I heard this V8 or BMW sweet six sounding car pull up behind me. It was first in queue and was parked right behind me. I turned around and noticed it was an E30 M3 and a smart looking one at that. The guy revved it twice before switching it off and of course I thought "that aint no S14 in there" . Off I trotted to have a nose around and I noticed it wasnt an Alpina B6 S which I thought it would be.
Soooo, I approached the two guys and said "hey guys, what 6 cyl u got in there" thinking they took the route of using a 3.5 e28 BMW M5 engine or normal 3.5 (like the Alpina B6 S uses). The guys were both foreign but I definately did NOT hear the word "BMW" in any sentence when trying to tell me what engine he has got in it. SO after saying "ehhhhhhh?" a few times I heard the answer. They thought obtaining big HP from the S14 engine would cost too much so instead they dumped a Rover 5.0 litre V8 in there kicking out around 360BHP. I think thats the engine TVR`s use (like the Chimera)......Nice eh?

I prefer to see M3`s with S14`s myself, but a few odd conversions around isnt too bad. Using a different engine to get an extra 40 BHP more is stupid, but using a different engine to get 360bhp is a bit different 8-). Not sure about using non BMW engines though.................

ANyway, it left everything else standing. First lap it overtook a tuned Sierra Cosworth and over the next 3 laps it overtook a lot of cars including a Toyota Supra Turbo thing which had a massive exhaust and a Nissan Skyline GTR. It still seemed to corner well despite the lump in the front. The guys only had a quick moment to show me around before going out on track, but under the hood were 8 holes in the top of the engine(or intake horns .
