While I am sure its better than the base audio setup, the Harman/Kardon system in my 330i is little more than OK and certainly not audiophile grade. The 12 speakers are there so the marketing department can say they are there. I have a set of Infinity Perfect6.1 components in my SHO and the sound blows away the BMW's H/K.

My specific disappointments: lousy imaging, poor time coherence, unimpressive timbre/tonality, mediocre dynamics, easily localized subs (likely crossed over too high)

If you listen to pink noise, it is incredible how different it sounds in the left and right channels and how disembodied it is when playing over both channels.

That said, I don't want to compromise the integrity of the door panels by installing new speakers and I want to do nothing that will allow BMW to refuse ANY part of their warranty. SO I am going to live with it till the warranty expires and then I'll explore my options.
